' Late 19th Century Light Blue Bresse Enamel Casket ' (French Napoleon 111 period ) circa 1860. Private Collection.  ) Rectangular casket in light blue Bresse enamel with bronze mounts resting on four feet richly decorated with acanthus leaves. The lid is decorated with a central medallion showing a couple sitting in a landscape , the man making flowers in the hair of his beloved in the style of the 18th century. The scene is encircled with white enamel imitation pearls and arabesques with threads in gold. The same decor with arabesques heightened with white, red and green enamel adorn the rim of the casket. The interior is lined with silk.
