In later life, Solomon, the Old Testament king famous for his wisdom ( see 'The Judgement of Solomon, Rubens ) fell under the influence of his seven foreign wives and turned to idolatry, building temples for their gods (1 Kings) .......Sebastiano Conca (1680-1764) was a hugely influential Italian painter. In about 1710 , Conca established his Academia del Nudo, which attracted many followers from Italy and abroad. Pompeo Batoni was among his pupils , and engravers there disseminated Conca's style across Europe through their prints.
