This seascape has the attribution of Claude-Joseph Vernet , but later ascribed to Lacroix de Marseille who closely imitated Vernet , it does not appear to be of sufficient quality to be by Vernet himself. The coat of arms on the wall at the right may stand for Marseille or Toulon .
