This sumptuously painted and gold mounted gaming box , most likely used to play the game Hombre, is one of the most exceptional works of art produced by the Du Paquier Manufactory in it's brief 25-year history. The box is decorated with three playing cards framed with violet and gold fans , trelliswork patterns, and panels depicting landscapes with ruins. The interior of the box is divided into four compartments , each of which holds a gold and diamond box similarly decorated with strapwork and landscape panels . Within each small box are rectangular counters of varying denominations .
